Eastern and Western Wedding Customs

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Asian weddings, particularly Chinese and Indian, usually have red as a dominant color in the clothing worn by the bride and the entourage and in the decor. According to Indian and Chinese customs, the color red is associated with good fortune and joy and this why people have red as the strongest color during a wedding. Though many people today would find the Chinese wearing white during weddings, it was not always like this in the past. Historically and traditionally, white was once considered a bad color that brought bad luck since it is mainly dominant during gatherings involving death and mourning.

Contrary to the wedding customs in China which dictates the bride change her wedding gown after the wedding, the bride usually wears the same gown all throughout the ceremony, although some may also change like the Chinese. Wearing a white wedding gown is actually a more recent trend compared to the wearing of other darker colors such as red during weddings. The giving of diamonds to the bride has also been practiced for a long time now, beginning in about the early 19th century. Many people believed and some still believe that the giving of a diamond by the groom to her soon-to-be bride symbolizes his everlasting love for her. This is one of the most common western practices these days.

One of the wedding customs that the eastern and western countries share is the use of a veil. It is believed that when the bride is wearing a veil, this is protecting her from being seen by evil spirits and jealous suitors. It is also believed to be a bad luck if the groom will see the bride on the wedding day before the ceremony, which is why the two never get dressed in the same room or building. These are just some of the wedding customs of the western and eastern countries. And though they may have different customs, one thing that remains the same is their intention to be united with their partners forever in the holy sacrament of matrimony.

Some Knowledge About Bridal Hair

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Hair style plays a major role in the wedding attire and your total looks are determined by your hair dos. Before your wedding, you have to choose the hair style that flatters you. The choice of a hair stylist is important, as she is the one who is responsible for your hair style on your wedding day.

There are a number of hair styles available and you have to choose the one you like. The hairstyle you choose should compliment the design of your dress. Depending on the style of your wedding gown, you have to choose a hair style. A perfect hair style will highlight the great aspects of your wedding dress making you very special on the special occasion.

When you have a closed neck in your dress, then you have to choose upsweep hair styles. These styles will look great for brides having long necks. You can have elegant or loose hairs with the upsweep hair style depending on your wish. You have to choose a style depending on your wedding gown but you can choose variations depending on your desires. For brides who are not confident about their neck, low do hair style can make wonders. If you have a long hair, the complete sweep hairstyle will not show the beauty of your hair.

If you want to display the beauty of hair as well, you can have your hair falling down the shoulders. If you have broad shoulders, you can hide it by having floating hair. Again, you can let the hair fall straight or curl them. If you have long hair, it will hide the designs in your belt and other accessories at the back when you let the hair fall down straight. Curling will make you look gorgeous but you need to keep the curls fresh by ironing them.
