Reasons to Have an On-Beach Wedding

Posted by Gary Murphy | Beach Weddings | Sunday 16 May 2010 11:01 pm

Have you been putting off selecting the location for your wedding? There are several convincing reasons why seaside weddings have become so popular with couples about to be married. Instead of more traditional weddings held in churches, more and more couples are choosing less formality and more romance. They are being married on the beach, surrounded by their friends and family members. A wedding on the shore makes excellent sense for the following four reasons:

1. A beach wedding is unforgettably magical. The beach setting is almost guaranteed to leave you starry-eyed. Imagine yourself on a sparkling white-sand beach with a gentle ocean breeze wafting the light perfume of your tropical wedding flowers all around you. Then picture the bubbling water dancing lightly onto the sand, carried onto the beach by glistening azure waves. Try to imagine the ultimate moment, the magical time when you stand facing your beloved, surrounded by your loved ones and lit by the golden rays of the setting sun. Looking lovingly into each others eyes, you say, “I do.”

2. On-beach weddings are an opportunity for your guests to reminisce. Nothing creates memories like a wedding. Beach settings are even more memorable for friends, family and other guests who are sharing your matrimonial happiness. An on-beach wedding provides a chance for your wedding guests to take some time off work, travel and relax a bit and possibly lengthen their stay so they have a vacation. Your guests will look forward to your wedding. Beach weddings with exotic locations provide even more anticipation.

3. A wedding on the beach is less expensive than you might expect. If your budget allows it you can fly in a large number of guests, book a whole resort hotel, host a lavish two-day party and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on your wedding. Beach ceremonies, however, do not need to be that expensive. You can opt for an intimate, private wedding with you, the minister, the sand and the waves. It will hardly cost you anything. You will be surrounded by natural beauty when your wedding is on a beach, unlike indoor weddings. The beautiful surroundings allow you to use fewer flowers and decorations. Seaside settings also allow you to save on clothing as you can dress more casually for the wedding. Beach weddings provide maximum budget flexibility yet provide a truly magical experience.

4. An on-beach wedding is easy to plan. You can relax after you choose a location. Planning, even without a professional wedding planner, is a pleasant experience, especially if the bridal couple works as a team. You can make the planning process even easier by developing a wedding theme (think tropical, luau or musical). Coordination then becomes a fairly straightforward process of finding suitable service providers, getting the best prices and ensuring that your guests have the assistance they need to complete their travel plans.

Bridal Shower Gift Registry Tips

Posted by Avril Lavigne | Gift Registry | Friday 7 May 2010 10:51 pm

The bridal shower gift registry is a list of items preselected by the couple. This may be at a department store or a specialty shop. Often, couples will register at more than one place. A couple just starting out might include basics like sheets and towels.

The following are bridal shower gift registry tips that may answer questions often asked.

o The registry is supposed to be convenient for both the giver and the receiver. The couple requests items they need or like, and the guest has some idea of their tastes.
o The places the couple are registered are often included in the bridal shower invitation. If not, ask the hostess if they are registered anywhere.
o It is not necessary to choose a gift from the list. Some guests look at preselected items as being “asked for gifts”. You are free to choose what you want.
o If you buy a gift from the list, make sure the store personnel knows that you bought it. This will then show as “already purchased” if another guest is shopping.
o Don’t assume that because larger items are requested, that the couple is being greedy. Couples are often asked to choose a variety of price ranges. A group of people, for instance the bridesmaids, will often pool their money and purchase a larger gift. Some of the items may even end up as wedding gifts.
o If you live out of town and will attend the bridal shower, consider ordering your gift on the phone or online. Then pick it up at the store location that is closest to where the party is being held.
o If you can’t attend the shower, most stores will have the bridal shower gift registry available online. You can choose a gift and have it sent.
o If only smaller items are left when you decide to purchase your gift, consider buying one and adding something else that coordinates. For example, if a pot holder is left, you could add kitchen towels, mixing bowls or hot plates to go with it.
o Many bridal showers still use the “Wishing Well” tradition. This is a way to accumulate smaller necessities the couple will need. These are often chosen on the registry in addition to more expensive gifts. So, if you need to purchase a “Wishing Well” gift, see if there are any on the registry that would work.
o The bridal shower gift registry will typically remain online until sometime after the wedding.
